All Dressed Up and no where to go...

Today's plan was to meet up with a local agant and co-host an open house.  The reason I was co-hosting is because the agent wanted to hold two open houses.  Each open house would have someone assisting and the agent would probably travel back and forth to see how things were going.

Unfortunately, something came up and the agent was unable to attend the Open House.  I would have been happy to host it myself except I do not have Open House signs to place throughout the neighborhood.  In addition, the house is vacant and I didnt have access to the 'super key' to get in.  So, for now we are going to push it to another weekend.

Personally, I like Open Houses.  I have posted articles before about Open Houses to get feedback.  Some like them and some do not want to 'waste their time'.  I like to deliver flyers to all of the neighbors and let them know that we are hosting an open house in their area.  Not a typical flyer that has pricing and rates.  It would be more like an invitation for them to come and check it out.  Also, it would solicit their assistance with picking their neighbors (family, friends, co-workers).

Another great reason for an open house is to pick up potential clients.  People that may not like that house but are still in the market for a home.  Sure, its hard to get them to provide the information to you.  So, give them something in exchange for email/phone#.  Typically, I suggest an iPod Shuffle or perhaps a gift card.

So, I am all dressed up and had no where to go.  Instead, I went into the office, organized some files, and wrote this post.

What would you do?

Hi John, Too bad the open house didn't work out, but at least you made good use of your time.  I probably would have done the same thing you did.

LOL Shirley.  You never really need a reason to post on AR, but it seemed like a good opportunity.

Too bad about the opportunity not panning out, Maybe I would have worked on prospecting letters or something like that.  With the proposed $15,000 tax rebate on the horizon I would suggest we all gear up for what could be a bull rush of activity.   Those who are out there and prepared will prosper and those that aren't - won't!

I hope that is the case Brian. Although I've been very busy with refinances, it will be nice to have more purchase business.

John - Why the switch to a serious black and white photo?  With regard to the open house, sounds like you did something productive - kudos!

I think it was a all in all productive day. I would have driven home and spent the day with the family. It's Sunday anyways.

I echo the other comments John, you made the best out of it and got some work done too.

Now about that house being shown vacant....

Hi Jason.  I just wanted the picture to be of ME and not the Superblogger.  Although he was cool.  Thought the black and white was a little different.  Is it too serious?

Loreena - I did keep quite busy.  As you know, I've had quite a bit to do so this gave me a chance to catch up and maybe get ahead of schedule a little.  Still have quite a bit to do.  Not with just my loans, but my outside blog and my SEO homework.  Katerina cracks the whip on homework.

Karen - You are right.  I'd be happy to share your information with the agent.  I'll shoot you a note with an update.

Thanks John. The agent can do some research right here on AR about vacants and why they're a hard sell. I've written several blogs myself on the subject.

Sounds good Karen

John, this is a very dressed-up post! Sorry it fell through for you but I love the idea of passing out invitations in the neighborhood! What a great idea. Thank you for posting with your free time! Now, what's your passion? hint, hint.

John - It just seems too serious considering the fact that I know you are a goofball.

Hey John,

you could of come over and helped with my plumbing problem.  I would of been fine with that.

Posted by Angelia Garcia (Pure Realtors) over 3 years ago

LOL  Thanks Jason.  Just for that comment, I'll change it.  I could make it more of a goofball picture (something like my facebook account).  If you have not seen that picture, I suggest you take a look.

Angelia - I could have.  Although since I am not a handy guy, I would have been worthless to you.  I now who to call if there is a problem, but Im not equipt to handle the issue.

John,

I would ask you to come to San Antonio and do an Open House with me!

I'd be happy to come out there Sheila.  Haven't been to San Antonio for quite some time.
