City Hall 101 - Available in Frisco Texas

In my post which provided a summary from "Coffee with the Mayor", I mentioned a program called 'City Hall 101'.  Below I have recapped further details about the class and how to register.

They are currently taking participants for this program, but unfortunately they are only accepting 25 participants.  This program is 100% free and provides an inside look at what happens inside City Hall and other municipal facilities.

When - City Hall 101 runs from February 2 through April 27, 2009. - Monday Evenings from 6 pm to 9 pm *** See below for further details ***

Where - George A. Purefoy Municipal Center, 6101 Frisco Square Blvd

Restriction - Must be 18 years old or older and class is limited to 25 participants

Meet Mayor Maso, the city counsel members, and the city managers.  During class, you will go behind the scenes of the Frisco Fire and Police Departments, hear what it takes to build roads, and plan for Frisco's future.  And that is just a few of the topics.  Registration forms are available to download on the city's website (FriscoTexas.gov).  When in the home page, click on 'Projects/Programs' and then select 'City Hall 101' from the drop down menu.

If you have any additional questions, feel free to contact Amy Gill @ 972.292.5103 or send an email to agill@friscotexas.gov

*** The locations on Monday Nights will change to correspond with the department being discussed.  Be sure to check the schedule weekly ***

John - This is pretty cool info!  For those who want an inside look into city operations this would be an ideal way to get it!  It would be even better if it was available for younger ones - Boy Scouts for example but maybe its too time intense for them.  You should put the link for the reg. form in your post!

John I have not heard of any of the towns around me doing this, but I think it is a great idea, and will suggest this to our Mayor.

John, What a great idea your town has!  I think involving the community makes everyone feel as though they have a voice.  Love the info!

What's for dinner?  I'm out of Klondike bars, dang it :(

John,

Great idea. City government for the people is unheard of in most places. Is this the first time with the new picure???

Brian - I am seeing you again.  Thanks for reviewing my posts.  Good advice on the form.  My concern was that I would attach it but what if it changes.  I'd prefer that someone goes directly to the site.  Great advice for future posts.  I try to always talk about our city and Im sure I'll have another opportunity.

George - Good luck!  I think it would be great to see your post that says "look what our mayor started"...  or something like that.

Princess - Thanks for the compliment to the city.  We are 102K and growing.  We are larger than a small town, but we like to think of ourselves as small town.   And for dinner tonight was Pizza.  Where are your Klondikes?  Did you kick the habit?

Angelia - I did not sign up.  I'd like to, but think I wont have a ton of time in the 1st quarter of this year.  Big plans with SEO, Marketing, and Closing Loans  :-)  But perhaps they will run it again after April.  Then for sure I'll sign up.

Paul - LOL  Yes, Paul.  I thought I would change it up a bit.  I found it when I was looking for pictures of my Daddy/Daughter Dance.  What do you think?  I know  you like the more casual look... this is with a tie, but with fun.
