Did any of my fellow Texans feel this quake?
Apparently, we had two minor earthquakes in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. They were not strong at all. According to reports, the two minor quakes were magnitudes of 2.5 and 3.0. Coming from California, I can tell you that anything less than 5.0 is nothing to be concerned about.
Anyway, the earthquakes shook between 11:25 pm and 12:01 am and were centered in Irving, TX. The previous earthquake in Texas was in April 2008 which had a magnitude of 3.7 and was located in South Texas.
This caused me to do a little research on earthquakes in Texas. According to historical records, we have never had an earthquake larger than 6.0. As a matter of fact, the largest was 6.0 but was way back in August 1931. The second largest was 5.7 which was near Alpine, TX (close to Austin). That was in April 1995.

John - I was born and raised in Dallas, and I had no idea that earthquakes were even possible in Texas. Shows what I know...
I didn't think so either. Thought moving from California I was getting away from that... no so much. However, it was comforting to know that there has not been an earthquake larger than 6.0. California has had plenty of earthquakes above 6.0 and they did quite a bit of damage. Actually, the building I worked in sat on a fault line. Although nothing ever happened, we were always thinking 'what if'. According to the builders of that facility, we would have nothing to worry about. Who knows.
John, We don't get very big earthquakes here either but when we do, they shake, rubble and roll. last big one was 6.8 in the year 2000...
Nope and I am outside of Houston.
I felt them!
i stay awake till 5am every day and I live on a second story apartment, so I thought it was just people acting stupid downstairs, but my brother told me it was a quake. interesting
Paul - 6.8 is quite large. At least it does not happen often.
Cheri - Have you ever experienced an earthquake?
Klimdeeni - I think they are cool, as long as its not too large. In California, you just ride it out until things start to fall off of your walls.
Some are speculating that the quakes are a result of the mass drilling of natural gas nearby. Hmmm.
I bet none of us have "earthquake insurance coverage" in Texas.
I was awake and 16 stories above ground, but I did not feel anything. How disappointing to have an earthquake and not know about it until later! :(

So odd. I just saw this on our local news. A 3.0 quake? Wow. that's crazy dude, very crazy.
I did not hear of the earth quake. Thank God it did not cause damage.

Steve - I don't think you missed too much. Sounds like it was a small rattler. Being way in Dallas, if you were awake you probably would not have felt it either.
Greg - I thought it was odd. I actually found out about it from someone on TWITTER. I had to check it out.
Gita - It doesn't sound like anything bad happened from it. Shook people up a bit, but I had not read anywhere that anyone was hurt or any buildings were affected.

FYI, Alpine is out in West Texas, north of Big Bend.
Sally - I would not have been aware of them either, except a ton of people were on Twitter talking about it. Thats when I researched it a bit.
That's so strange for Texas, glad it was not a strong one.
Ricki - I thought I had left the EQs in California when we relocated. Who knew?!? Looks like they are pretty small though. In our area, I do not think one person felt it. We are several miles North of Irving.
