Hey Apple... What's with the options?

Do you own any Apple Products?  For over 1 year, I have been a big supporter of Apple products.  I have purchased my Mac, MacBook, iPod, iPhone, and several computer applications.  Apple products are easy to use and a lot of fun, in my opinion.

If you have kids, you know that they like to also play on the computer.  The two biggest computer games for kids under 12 are Disney's Toontown and Webkins. They are very kid friendly and safe.  Recently, my kids playing on the computer and they were cracking up.  If you are like me... you love to hear kids laugh (makes you smile)... When you can not see the kids, you have to wonder what they are laughing about... IN THE OFFICE.  So, I wonder in to check on them and see they have found an option on my Mac that I didn't know existed.

The software is called Photo Booth.  The software itself I knew existed, but I was not aware of was that there are options within Photo Booth that can be used to alter your pictures.

My question is... WHY?

Today for lunch I was suppose to have plans to meet someone, but unfortunately they could not make it.  This freed up my time this afternoon.  So, I took it upon myself to play with these options and share them with you today.

This is the normal picture... I know, it looks like I touched it up a little bit.

And yes, those are Mickey Mouse hands and  Golden Mickey in the background.

This is Mr. Floating Head.  He is completely oblivious to the mortgage industry.  His head is in the sky and is looking for an adjustable rate at 2.4%, fixed for 10 years.

Mr. Grumpy... He just found out that DPA is no longer an option for his new purchase.

Mr. Brain... He over analyzes his decisions before making up his mind to buy the home of his dreams.  He insists that it's cheaper to live in a 2 bedroom apartment.  Did I mention he has 4 kids?

This is... umm... okay, I don't have a name for this one.  Just thought it was funny and wanted to share.  Do you have any suggestions?

I guess I do know why they provide this option.  It gives someone a reason to blog about it and share some laughs with their kids.  Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed them as well.

If you have some goofy pictures, I'd love to see them and share with my family.

As a life-long Apple fan and Mac user, welcome to the club! Photo Booth is a fun little app and the little ones love it. Apple started including it on Macs when they started building the iSight right into the machine (on an iMac first I believe).

My son is an Apple convert and I have long thought of switching but I have to wait for my laptop to bite the dust. I enjoy my ipod and the quality is first rate on the products I have used from Apple Inc...

This is such a hilarious option on the Mac and my kids have used it as well. How about Mortgage Monkey for the last one, cause someone is monkeying around with loan programs..

John - see what happens when you have waaay too much time on your hands...roflmao.  My favorite picture is Mr. Brain. Somehow, I think you are a mixture of all of those guys listed above.    Now, can you please get back to work before you discover another dangerous "option"

Have a great day

I am with you Matt.  Love the Apple products.  iSight is something you would think all computers would have installed.

Paul, you should really make the conversion.  Easier said than done, especially if all of your things are saved on your old computer.  Macs are much easier to work with though.

I love the name Mortgage Monkey, Katharine.  Good suggestion.

Hey Leander.  I stopped playing with the computer shortly afterwards.  It started because I wanted to take an updated picture.  Then I remembered the options.  Figured... what the heck.  Im sure I'll get some goofy looks from people who do not know me.

Thanks Fred!  To clarify, I am the one behind the big curtain.  Don't look back there!

I'm not quite as funny as you Greg, but I am trying.  Appreciate you stopping by and hope things are getting back to normal for you.

it'll use up your hard drive space sooooooooo quickly, you'll be making the Mr. Grumpy face permanently

John, very cute!!  Leave it to the kids to find something like this.  I do have to say though now that my children are young adults occasionally I learn something before they do.

John, the last picture is the WooHoo pic. I see you looking at the Miss America bathing suit pageant just 10 feet away! Yeah, that's it.

I guess you wouldn't have had the extra playing time if I didn't have to cancel our appt... good use of down-time though.  I, personally, don't have any apple products, but I remember in school how everything was done on mac and not PC.

Alan ... You are the first to post a picture.  I appreciate you sharing it with us.  My kids got a good laugh this afternoon.  They were playing with the one that 'swirls' earlier this afternoon.  The movie feature we have not checked out yet.  I'll have to play a little further.  Maybe this evening or something.  Thanks again for sharing.

Hi Marchel.  Im sure there are many things you find before them.  There are many things I found out about here in the rain.  Then I share them with friends and family.  My kids are 10 & 11 so I still find things before they do, but I know its a matter of time before they start showing me things I never knew.  Who am I kidding... they do it now but not too often.

Thats funny Deb.  I do see the Woo Hoo face.  My kids like to play with that option and make their face look like it has one eye.

LOL.  Donna, I wasn't going to mention names.  I highly suggest the Mac computer.  Not for these options above (although fun to play with), but because the applications themselves are so easy to use.  They are certainly made for someone that is creative.

You didn't want to share some pictures with us Konnie?  Alan shared his picture.  :-)

Too are great. I know I have a program that does that too, but I have Vista and once I find a program, takes me months to relocate it.....wish I could have  my XP back.

Posted by Nancy Larson (I am a licensed referral agent in NJ) almost 12 years ago

Nancy - I have heard that about the Vista system.  Im glad I did not upload that to my PC.  For now, I still run XP.  I'd like to do all my business on the Mac, but some software just has not made it to the Mac system.  If you find your software, take some pics and share.

Posted by John Cannata, Texas Home Mortgage - Purchase or Refinance (214-728-0449 almost 12 years ago

@John - What software do you need that isn't available for the Mac?

The only things I need Windoze for is Netflix's streaming service and Microsoft MapPoint. I have XP on my MacBook Pro. I can boot up into XP and my Mac is just like any other Windows PC but most of the time I just run it side-by-side using VMWare Fusion (similar to Parallels).

Posted by Matt Muelver (Muelver Realty, LLC) almost 12 years ago

Matt - If you have some feedback, I'd be more than happy to hear about it.  I have had a hard time running Calyx Point for my applications.  Also, my new website can be viewed on Safari, but I can not go into the 'admin' mode to make changes because its not compatible with Safari.  I tried to download Firefox, but that did not do the trick.  Any suggestions?

Posted by John Cannata, Texas Home Mortgage - Purchase or Refinance (214-728-0449 almost 12 years ago

@John - Point appears to be Windoze only. I would run it in a parallel computing environment on the Mac (XP on either Parallels or Fusion). Both of the options for doing this have integrated modes that will make a Windows App appear just like any of your Mac Apps, complete with icon in the dock, etc.

As for the website, can you access the admin in Firefox or Safari on Windows? There should be no change in the way the browsers work on another platform. There are other browsers that you could try (i.e. Opera) but if you're running Point anyway you might as well have IE as well.

As I said, I have Fusion running XP. I do 99.9% of my computing in OS X but I've got XP available if I need it for anything (such as Netflix's streaming).

Posted by Matt Muelver (Muelver Realty, LLC) almost 12 years ago

Thanks Matt.  I'll play with it further.  I'd obviously prefer to have my Mac with me to run my applications.  As of right now, I have two computers on at home.  My PC while taking aps and updating customer information.  Also, I use the PC to make the adjustments to my personal site.  For all other things, I use the Mac.  I have not tried to access the 'administration' functions on Safari using Windows.  I have only tried to download firefox on my Mac, but had no success.  I can view the site itself just fine.  But to make changes, I have to use my PC.

You know Karen, I actually thought about that before posting this message.  Who would work with a guy that is playing on his computer.  Then I figured... I have a goofy personality and shouldn't people know the whole me?  :-)  Besides, I got Alan to play with his computer and share his picture.  LOL
