Daddy Daughter Dance - Frisco Texas - February 6th 2010

It's that time of year again. The 2010 Daddy Daughter Dance in Frisco Texas.

*** For details about the event, please scroll down ***

Strap on your dance shoes, put on a nice suit, and get ready to boogie oogie oogie. Well, don't 'boogie' or you may embarrass your daughter, but you get the point.  This year's theme is "Alice in Wonderland".

If your daughter is between the age of 4 and 12, this is a MUST ATTEND dance. My daughter and I have been attending this dance since moving to Frisco. Our first official dance was February 2005. We have really created some great memories, some of which you can read and/or see here... Daddy Daughter Dance in Frisco Texas

This year will be very memorable because my daughter is now 12. Its her last year within this age group to attend. I wasn't sure until recently if she would even want to attend for sure. She is getting to the age that Dad is not as cool as he once was. I'm lucky though, because I AM just as cool. :-)  Okay, maybe I just like to think so. In either case, Sidney is excited to go and so am I.

Because there are different age groups, the dances start as early as 2:00 pm and the last dance group starts at 8:00 pm. Here are a few pictures from previous years. They grow up so fast...

**** If you live in Frisco Texas and plan on attending, please read the following information ****

John,  They do grow up so quick!  I hope you have a wonderful dance and it is way cool that you are still cool in her eyes!!

Marchel - I think I'm still cool, she hasn't really confirmed it. LOL  But I'm very happy she does not feel too old to attend. Many of her friends attend, and she NEVER ditches me to hang out with them. Its good exercise and a ton of fun.

Already, I remember last year's post. Take Pictures!

Paul - I was thinking the same thing. Seems like just 2 weeks ago that we attended the last dance. Time flies some times.  I'll definitely take some pictures and share the event when all is said and done.

I also remember last year's post about this event.  I get to go to one myself in March!

Hi John ~ Wow - talk about making memories. What a neat event. I went and read your fabulous post about previous year's dances - talk about going the extra mile - in line at 5:30! And yes - I watched the macarena video  - too funny! Have a wonderful time.

This is why I like you John. I have the utmost respect for a man who takes care of his family. I think I'd embarass my daughter too if I actually danced, but the thought that you were willing to go speaks volumes about what a good Dad you are. Take care.

John,

Sounds like a great event.  Those memories will last a life time.

Thanks Michelle. Should be a lot of fun.

Jason - Is this going to be your first dance?

Liz - That is so funny that you went back and watched the video. That was my friend Mike. Typically the four of us go together (us and Mike and his daughter). That video had us cracking up, as you can imagine. THANK YOU for taking the time to go back and check out the previous post.

Nathan - Those are very kind words. Thank you. Its been a fun event each year. We will have to do something else next year. Its not unusual for us to have a date night, whether its ice skating (yes, I have done it several times and I fall often), or roller skating (this I can actually do), or just dinner and  movie (I know how the Hannah Montana movie ends, if you are interested).

Hi Richard. I wish we would have had something like this is California. I really don't recall it, if there was one. So, we missed a few years but its been fun since we started going.

What a great way to make special memories with your daughter.  I'm sure she'll treasure these "dates" with you forever.  Love the vidoe of you doing the macarena.  Enjoy this years dance.

Leah  - I had actually even forgot that I posted that video until Liz commented. A friend of mine (also there with his daughter) thought it was funny because I seemed to be enjoying myself. But hey, nothing wrong with having some fun. I actually knew that dance, unlike many of the other dances. :-)

Hi John, what a great way to create memories for both of you & Sidney and make that family bond stronger. I would have loved to have a chance like this w/ my Dad when I was younger. Ok, I now have to go back and find the video of you dancing too :)

That's beautiful!  I read your blog from the link too!  Girls need these kind of times spent with their dads for bonding... this is how they end up knowing who the right man is!  Precious!  Thanks for taking the time to post this!

Two years ago my daughters girl scout troop had a daddy / daughter dance and I was greatly disappointed when they didn't have one this last year. I hope they bring it back this year, because I really did enjoy it and this year I would have two little angels to take.

Diane - Thank you for reading the post. My daughter and I have been talking about this event for a few months now. Next year we will have to do something special on the same night.

Todd - I assume it was a successful event, so Im surprised they didn't repeat it this year for you. Maybe they didnt have enough participation or something. This is the 14th year for the Frisco Daddy Daughter Dance. I've seen some dads with 2 or 3 daughters at the dance. I'm sure it takes a little juggling, but everyone had a smile on their face and danced together. I'll cross my fingers for you buddy.
