Frisco Texas Mortgage, Real Estate, Events, and more

Congratulations to Me - I Have Officially Surpassed 100K Points on ActiveRain!!

In May 2008, I met a Realtor in Little Elm RE/MAX by the name of Linnea Lavell.  She told me about quite a few Real Estate Networking Sites, one of which was ActiveRain.  I signed up for a few days and just played around.  Towards the end of June 2008, I wrote my first blog post.  5 minutes after posting, I received my first official comment and then 15 minutes later, I received another.  I knew from that point on that I was addicted to the feedback and attention - and that was before I found out about the GOOGLE JUICE and was listed #2.

Look at me now almost one year later:

As of today, I am over 103K.  I know I am a little slow on publishing my 100K points but at  least I am doing it.  :-)

I am listed as #2 in Frisco Texas and #3 in Collin County.  Considering we have 982 members in Collin County, being #3 is not too shabby.

Within the state of Texas, I am ranked #43.  In May I reached 41, but I've slacked on writing posts/commenting for a few days.

Of my 172 posts written, 2 were featured posts.  I remember the first time I was featured.  It was a post about my daughter and how she was always taking my computer out of the office - Stay Out Of My Office!  My second feature was a few months later (February) and was about Fear and Greed.

Over the past year, I have had the pleasure of meeting MANY MANY great Real Estate Agents, Stagers, and Mortgage Professionals. Perhaps you have met some of them as well - Jason Crouch, Jeff Belonger, Karen Otto, Greg Nino, Leander McClain, Gary Woltal, Sherry Scales, Erik Hitzelberger, Marchel Peterson, Donna Harris, JL Boney, Elizabeth Ramsey, Shirley Parks... the list could go on and on. Of anyone who has commented or read my post, my biggest supporter on ActiveRain has to be Loreena Yeo of 3:16 Team Realty.  I met Loreena here in the Rain and have been working with her for quite a few months now.  We meet and talk about marketing strategies, our current pipeline's, market conditions, etc. It has been a blessing to work so closely with a Realtor that has such focus and vision.

I've learned, I've shared, and I've grown because of ActiveRain.  So, whether you comment on my blog or just stop by to read it... THANK YOU!  Because of you, I've continued to come back.  And because I come back, I've had the pleasure of more exposure on the internet. More exposure equals more business.

If you are reading this post and you have not yet joined ActiveRain, I highly suggest that you do. There is not another site out there that provides this type of expereince, knowledge, and exposure to Real Estate Professionals.  When I first joined, I did not find my blog on the interest.  It took a few months before I finally started to see results.  The key is to stick with it and write about your area.  It WILL show up on the interest and you will turn business because of it.

Thank you again and we will see you in the rain soon! (now if I can just get my 100K badge....)

Hi John,

Congrats on hitting six figures!  I just hit my first 10,000 points yesterday....what a thrill! I am looking forward to the day I can be you!  :)

Thank you Sheldon.  I have not quite made the impact that you have, but I am getting there.

Cindy - I am glad to see you remembered to go back and sign in.  The points are important :-)

Jason - My mention of you was quite small.  I could actually write a separate post about you and still not cover everything.  I'm always impressed with your details about Austin, your family, and your new ventures.

Brent - It takes time.  For some, like Sheldon above, it comes much quicker.  But once you make a splash in the rain, many will know about it.  Keep moving along.  Its really not about the points anyway.  The points are a nice quick acknowledgement, but it means nothing if you can not turn your blog into a few deals.

I am sure that 200K will be here for you in no time Gail.

LOL Gabe. It may not be until next year again, but I'll keep posting and commenting.

Thanks Terry.

Well Roy, I have quite a few big hitters in the top 10 spot here in Texas.  Not sure who likely it is to be number 1 but you should always shoot for the stars, right?  I'm following you on twitter now though and look forward to conversing there as well.

Kristin - Im sure 100K will come soon enough. The points are a nice perk to blogging but I do it for the business and conversation with other professionals like yourself.

Congratulations Coleen.  I still remember my first 10K.  I wrote a blog about it and was shooting for 50K at the time.  Its been a great experience so far.  Keep it up and you WILL see results, if you haven't already.

Yippee... Let's start working towards your 200K goal. How long do you think it will take you?

Chop, chop.... get to working (ie blogging)!

Posted by Loreena Yeo, RealtorĀ®| Frisco TX Community Advocate (214)783-2210 (3:16 team REALTY ~ Locally-owned Frisco TX Real Estate Co.) almost 3 years ago

Loreena - Honestly, I think I can get to 200K faster than the original 100K. Not because I comment more (although I do my fair share of commenting) but because I am more aware of my SEO standings and what it takes to receive a few comments from my fellow Rainers.  Now if I could only figure out how to become featured more often.  I don't think there is a secret to being featured, but that certainly would help with points. LOL

Billie - Getting to 16K is two weeks is great.  100K will come to you in not time at that pace.

Congrats John! Don't you just love it?! The points are definitely the icing on the cake!  I am working me way there...since I had to start all over in Feb.  But well worth the time and effort to be a part of Active Rain!

Posted by Shirley Parks, Broker 210-414-0966 San Antonio TX Homes for Sale (Sands Realty 210-414-0966) almost 3 years ago

Thanks Donna.  Its no where close to 400K (or almost 500K) buts its a good number.  As for the shoutout, I am sure I will have more of an opportunity when you come out in July.  I look forward to talking about your class, as I am sure you will as well.

Bruce - It can certainly be done.  Sheldon Neil was at 40K points about 2 months ago and since he writes a Featured Post at least twice a week, it has sky rocketed his points.  He is now almost 100K himself (and I was 40K points ahead of him).  Crazy, but it can be done.  The thing about Sheldon is he is an extremely likable guy and has a lot of character.  If you arent following him, you should.  Very funny.

Thank you Shirley.  Its been fun so far.

Congrats John!  I always love reading milestone posts & seeing where folks are - I usually don't pay attention to other folks points otherwise.

I agree with you Kristin.  I notice their badges now, but did not pay attention before.  Those that have 100K  200K or 300K, I see the badge but dont know if they are 105K or 195K.  Ideally my post would have been filled with a little more information, but I had put it off too long due to being busy.  I wanted to be sure to get something out there. :-)
