Windsor Place HOA – Fall Festival

On Saturday, October 24^th, 2009, Windsor Place HOA in Frisco Texas will be hosting a Fall Festival Party.

The festival will be held in the Pavilion at Newman Park, located on the corner of Angel Falls and Twin Falls. Party starts at 3 pm until 5 pm. Don’t be late or you may miss some of the activities.

What’s on tap?

-       Kids Costume Contest (parents and pets are also welcome to dress)

-       Goodie Bags

FOOD WILL BE PROVIDED! That’s right. Windsor Place HOA has hired Mooyah Burgers to cater our family fun event.

So, bring your kids, your smiles, and plan on having some good food and lots of fun!

**** Quick Update **** 

We held the Fall Festival today and we had approx 30 homeowners show up, out of 182 homes. Probably the biggest showing we had were from the kids in the neighborhood. I'm sure that was due to the delicious burgers though.  The contest consisted of many babies. My wife took pictures, so I'll share them once available.

   Do you have a son or daughter going into Kindergarten through 6th grade? Do they love to play sports like Basketball, Soccer, Flag Football, or even Volleyball?

Frisco Family YMCA has a great sports program for you!  For the past few years, my son has played in the basketball program here in Frisco. It has been a great experience, although we only have one more year until he is playing sports for his school (starting 7th grade).

All of their sports prgrams are coached by volunteers. Mostly parents who have the knowledge, patience, and time. Typically, there is practice once a week and games on the weekend. I've been fortunate to coach a great group of boys each year. We have won a few games and lost a few games, but over all the kids learned more about the sport and grew as team mates throughout the year.

Well, Registration is now open - go to Frisco Family YMCA.  Prices are affordable and its a great way to keep your children active.

Its 4th of July and we are having a party.

The Frisco Fire Department will be helping us run a fun and eventful parade. Everyone is invited to participate in this short parade that starts from the cul-de-sac of Kennsington road. Come join us at 10:00 am Saturday morning. The parade end at Newman Park where we will enjoy a BBQ, bounce house, and tons of friends.

Don't forget your sun tan lotion as it's Texas and gets hot early.

You are welcome to walk, ride, or just watch. What ever you decide, just come on out.

We are slowly (okay, maybe its quickly) approaching the 4th of July. Boy this year is going by fast. On Saturday, July 4th, is the 8th Annual Frisco Freedom Fest. The 2009 Frisco Freedom Fest will be located on Main Street, across from Pizza Hut Park. Come and enjoy the food and festivities starting at 4 pm. Then take the family across the street to watch FC Dallas vs New York Red Bulls which starts @ 8 pm. Shortly following the game will be the Fireworks Extravaganza which is the biggest firework display in North Texas. 

Are you available to volunteer? There is plenty of room for Patriotic Volunteers and a variety of jobs. If interested, volunteers should go online to www.FriscoFreedomFest.org then click on 'Volunteers'. There you will see a list of opportunities. Print and fill out the online application. Request one or more of the opportunities that are listed online and the desired shift. This will assist you in working your area of interest. These shifts are assigned on a first come, first served basis.

Please be advised that there is a background check completed for the City of Frisco. If you are listed as a current volunteer with the City, a complete application is not needed.

Well, its back. Hoop It Up is a 3 on 3 basketball tournament that travels from state to state. This event comes to Dallas twice a year, once in April and again in June. If you are a basketball player, there are a few options if you are interested in playing. The tournament is played in Arlington at the Texas Ranger Stadium. Not the actual stadium, but the parking lot itself.

Interested in playing? If so, you just need to choose between 3 official divisions. Two of the three divisions are broken down even further, depending on your age and height:

• Top Gun (no height, age, or experience requirements) - Typically these guys and gals are very solid players. Some ex-NBA or D-League players, some great college players, and some natural street ballers. Enter this division at your own risk and know that someone (at least one) will dunk the ball on you. This league is not for me, but I'll come by and watch.
• Competitive - This division is split up by age (18-29 or 30+) and height (over 6 feet & under 6 feet). If you are under the age of 30, you may not play in the over 30 group, however, if you are over 30 you have the option to play with the younger men/women in other divisions. Same rule applies for height. No one over 6 feet tall can play in the 'under 6 feet' group, but you are welcome to play with the big boys even if you are 4'3".
• Recreational - This division is also separated by Height and Age. Here you will play with all ranges of players. Guys that play once every 2 months and some guys that play every other day.

For the 4th year now, I am playing in the Dallas Tournament. Its a little crazy to play in this heat, on the blacktop, but its fun. Since I am extremely white, I wear a lot of sunblock. If you look for me, just listen for my voice. I've been accused of talking too much on several occasions. Its all in fun though (at least for me). Perhaps I'll see you out there.

On Monday, June 29th, Mayor Maher Maso is hosting a Golf Tournament in Frisco Texas. Players of all skill levels are encouraged to come out and play. The tournament will play as a 4 person scramble. During play, you will have the opportunity to win other awards such as Putting Challenge, Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin, Hole in One, and more.  Top three in each category win a prize.

If you have not met Mayor Maso during 'Coffee With The Mayor' which is held each month, you have been missing out.  But, You may have a chance to golf with our Mayor, as he is participating in the tournament as well.

Not a golfer? That's okay. You can sponsor a hole for as little as $300. Get your name or company name out there for others to see. Remember its good advertisement and is for a great cause.

Registration - until 11:30 am

Start - Shortgun start 1:00 pm

Cost - $200 per individual (as low as $300 to sponsor)

Where - Stonebriar Country Club in Frisco Texas

Not only do you get to golf on this beautiful course and help support Frisco Family Services, but you also get many extras: Refreshments, Lunch, Dinner, Golf Gift, Goody Bag... just to name a few.  After the tournament is through, there will be an awards dinner for the challenges listed above.

Did you just relocate to Frisco Texas and/or perhaps purchased a newer home in the area?  You probably noticed that you have some "extra" things that have been packed away for years or maybe have never been used before.  Did you purchase new appliances or furniture?  What are you going to do with the old things?  Well, this weekend is a great weekend to clean out your older things.  You know the saying - out with the old and in with the new.

This Saturday (4/25) is 'Clean It and Green It' aka Chunk Your Junk.  This event is happens about twice a year.  This time around, the event will be held in the IKEA parking lot which is located on 7171 IKEA Drive.  If you are not familiar with the area yet, IKEA is located NorthEast of 121 and Dallas North Tollway (DNT).

The weather man/woman called for a slight chance of rain.  According to their website, the event will go on 'rain or shine'... with some exception.  If its raining lite to moderate, the event will continue.  In the case of severe weather, they recommend you call the Environmental Services Hotline @ 972.292.5900 for available cancellation information.

Today's plan was to meet up with a local agant and co-host an open house.  The reason I was co-hosting is because the agent wanted to hold two open houses.  Each open house would have someone assisting and the agent would probably travel back and forth to see how things were going.

Unfortunately, something came up and the agent was unable to attend the Open House.  I would have been happy to host it myself except I do not have Open House signs to place throughout the neighborhood.  In addition, the house is vacant and I didnt have access to the 'super key' to get in.  So, for now we are going to push it to another weekend.

Personally, I like Open Houses.  I have posted articles before about Open Houses to get feedback.  Some like them and some do not want to 'waste their time'.  I like to deliver flyers to all of the neighbors and let them know that we are hosting an open house in their area.  Not a typical flyer that has pricing and rates.  It would be more like an invitation for them to come and check it out.  Also, it would solicit their assistance with picking their neighbors (family, friends, co-workers).

Another great reason for an open house is to pick up potential clients.  People that may not like that house but are still in the market for a home.  Sure, its hard to get them to provide the information to you.  So, give them something in exchange for email/phone#.  Typically, I suggest an iPod Shuffle or perhaps a gift card.

So, I am all dressed up and had no where to go.  Instead, I went into the office, organized some files, and wrote this post.
